HOW MANY LANGUAGES ARE SPOKEN?
HOW MANY LANGUAGES ARE SPOKEN?
Approximately 6,800 languages across more than 220 countries. Some of these countries (such as Barbados, Cuba, North Korea, South Korea, Maldives, Iceland, Liechtenstein) are monolingual, while others harbor hundreds, which is the case of Papua New Guinea.
LANGUAGES BY CONTINENT
1. Africa:
The 780 million people in Africa are spread over 2011 languages, in 30% of the world's languages. Only 14 languages have official status in some of the 54 states in which the continent was divided. The languages of the former colonial or imperial dictatorships still dominate the linguistic landscape of the continent. (see table of the languages of Africa)
2. America:
Since the colonial languages which continue to exert the power of verbal communication.
3. Asia:
The total number of languages of this continent is 2180, representing 33% of the world's languages. The table reveals 34 Asian languages official languages for 49 countries.
4. Europe
There are 50 States in 35 different official languages but 222 local languages. Except some monolingual States, all States have many languages in their territories, Russia, with 56 languages.
5. Oceania:
Eminently linguistic Continent (1,302 languages spread over 27 states, microstates and occupied territories) with a tongue for every 23,000 inhabitants and considering the small population of the region (30 million). (see table of the languages of Oceania)

LANGUAGE FOR BLIND
BRAILLE...
![](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/blogger_img_proxy/AEn0k_uJfp8uyaRKI8dudQ1_twSjOF3o9eh0_Qp8R4hJb4g2tDC0GkWdQpeUwtb60-wLMZd4LCtQH9vwOC9QPdY-WdhMTTRfmoKKrvxTJ-VQiZhOW2KJmis14g0vfgw0hLRjj5RlX5ykZ0VjsXU=s0-d)
Braille method of printing books for the blind based on a system of raised dots on paper engraved by hand or machine to be read by touch. Each letter, number or punctuation is defined by the number and location of the six possible points of each group (a group having two points three points wide and high). The Braille alphabet also can write and read music. The dots are recorded by the back of the paper in reverse, to be read by the front of the same in the normal reading direction. Blind Braille can be written on a blackboard with a style or using a Perkins (similar to a typewriter) machine.
It is based on a symbol consisting of 6 points: those that are embossed represent a letter or sign the writing on visual characters. Importantly, it is not a language but a code. Therefore, properties and syntax are the same as for visual characters.
The size and distribution of the 6 points that make the call sign generator, is not a fad but the fruit of the experience of Louis Braille. The nerve endings in the fingertip are trained to capture this particular size.
But this sign allows only 64 combinations of points, being insufficient for the whole range of letters, symbols and numbers in each language. This limitation will require the invention of so-called "double symbols", to be discussed later. Attempt to use a braille symbol 8 points (which would significantly increase the number of possible combinations), but was uncomfortable for reading and forced to march finger each symbol to understand what they meant.

COMMUNICATION FOR THE DEAF...
Fingerspelling system.
Actually consists of speaking by changing position of the fingers that are accompanied by slight movements of the hand. Each letter has a shape that is made on the palm of the deafblind person (if you have enough residual vision can also be done in air).
The manual alphabet or finger spelling is a communication system used by the group of deafblind people. It is based on and is very similar to that used by the Deaf Community, but with a fundamental difference: Deaf people running on the visual version (since their communication is visual), ie, in the air, in space, while deafblind people can use in visual or touch version (depending on their residual vision and the quality thereof).

Communication between humans...
Communication is an essential part among human beings as these are social by nature and her need to express their feelings and emotions. Communication is the basis of any society of any time or place. Communication helps us a lot to solve problems if we use it correctly, it also means learning to share knowledge that can help us to improve our quality of life. People must learn to communicate and know that it succeed in fulfilling many goals throughout your life. The problems between people and between nations occur mainly by poor communication, in which the parties do not suggest the message they wish to convey.
Communication gives us strength to get on in society. People learn to communicate primarily in our home since this is the first school in which we learn all the basics, such as the values that are fundamental to communication. In our lives from birth use communication but not the verbal type, but to achieve publicize our needs we use non-verbal, this is the other type of communication, and both are of great importance for humanity.
Communication strongly influences our development and helps us grow as individuals through learning.
In conclusion, communication is essential for life and is used for many things, it is also helpful to improve ourselves as individuals and that through it throughout our lives we gain knowledge and experience that will help us to solve problems in a correct and simple.
Anyway communication arises from the need.

COMMUNICATION OF ANTS...
Ants also communicate by scent. They have glands on different parts of the body, which release a chemical called pheromone. The type of message you want to communicate or Food- -Danger determine the gland used to release the pheromone. They can use pheromones to leave a trail that will lead to other colony to a newly discovered food reserve.
With the antenna, the ants smell. After determining whether they are from the same colony, they may greet a strange ritual that includes ants stand facing each other, clasping mouths. Then, an ant regurgitates a drop of liquid at the mouth of the other.

Communication of birds...
Birds use songs and call notes and produce behavior, to communicate with each other. Birds use sound and action to ward off predators or warn of the danger to other birds to attract mates or defend their territory.
Another common form of communication among birds are called notes. Most birds communicate aurally, although some are noisier than others, and each species of bird has a variety of call notes to convey different messages.
Other birds also communicate with their behavior. In many bird species, the male dance, march or take other action to attract a female.

The acoustic communication of bats...
In places like central Texas, thousands of bats fly nightly over the heads of human witnesses, singing songs made with complex syllables, but at frequencies too high for us to hear that.
Researcher Michael Smotherman, of that university, is trying to understand how the bat Tadarida brasiliensis organizes the syllables in "songs" and how their communication with the brain is related.
Bats communicate at such high frequencies through echolocation ability (its ability to project sound and use the echoes to determine the direction and distance of objects). As the frequency of the bat is higher, improve resolution (get a more detailed "picture") of its surroundings.
These bats employ between 15 and 20 syllables to create calls. Each male has its unique courtship song. The pattern of all courtship songs is similar to the others, but each male bat uses a different syllable in its distinctive song. Bats also use sophisticated vocal communication to draw boundaries, define social status, repel intruders, instruct offspring and recognize each other.
"No other mammal, apart from humans, is able to use such complex vocal sequences to communicate," Smotherman says.

Communication from bats...
The communication of bats due to blindness affecting the species, bats must rely on sonar or echolocation to detect the location of objects around them.
Echolocation is an important survival tool, as it facilitates the hunt for food, travel and even locate some predators.

But how bats speak to each other? This can be a bat, bat different because many species in the family. Typically, bats communicate using chirps and songs that emit at higher frequencies, usually too high for a human hear that. They communicate at frequencies that can be detected by the human ear, this has led to a variety of studies and scientific institutions worldwide.

The intelligence of dolphins to communicate.
Dolphins communicate like most other animals, their shrieks and whistles and often communicate emotional states, the presence of danger and the food in the area.
Dolphin language ...
This day talk about dolphin language is to express different sounds like squeals, grunts, chirps and pops.
These sounds follow a pattern and help you communicate with other dolphins. Studies indicate that dolphins call each other by name.
The brain of a dolphin is superior to the human as far as size is concerned, but it is also in their complexity.
clicks are a system of echolocation, similar to bats, dolphins allows navigate and detect prey with ease.
Regarding whistles, even tone sounds are coming from the deepest part of the larynx. States are used to communicate alarm, sexual excitement and perhaps other emotional states.
Studies with captive animals have shown that dolphins are able to learn, perform tasks with some degree of complexity, and communicate with each other through training, vocalize sounds similar to words. Based on this, some researchers have suggested that dolphins could learn a language itself and communicate with humans. However, most experts maintain that skill set, and that put the Dolphins with a similar level of intelligence to primates, are not sufficient to demonstrate that their vocalizations to achieve the complexity of a real language test.

Communication of parakeets....
This day speak of the form of communication to the parakeets. Certainly people imitate some other words and tones of voice.
In nature, or in its natural habitat, these spices as well as other, communicate through sounds. Parrots learn from their mothers some sounds that copied to communicate.
The problem is that the tame (or lock them in cages) sounds more human voices are heard, and instinctively repeat them as a form of communication. But they do not know those words mean simply reproduce the sounds.

Communication between dogs and humans.
Communication between dogs and people is undoubtedly possible.
The language of dogs.
The language of dogs.
Like humans, dogs use various means of expression to communicate with their peers and by extension, us. The main channels of communication used are the olfactory, visual and vocal.
The olfactory channel:
The visual channel:
The whine: can mean either sorrow and joy:
- Pain: long, plaintive sound.
- Joy: Short and continuous sound, accompanied by a lot of movement.

Like humans, dogs use various means of expression to communicate with their peers and by extension, us. The main channels of communication used are the olfactory, visual and vocal.
Smell is the sense that dogs have more developed array can detect and distinguish odors, odors that we do not even notice it.
Dogs use their smell to identify themselves to other dogs, it's like a letter in which provides a record of their social rank, state of genital responsiveness, race ...
The visual channel:
The visual acuity of dogs is less than human and even to recognize someone is not sufficient just to view them, use this sense to decode different gestures and postures. Facial expressions associated with body postures indicate a dog's emotional state and social rank of another dog. For example, dominant dogs, raised carriage of ears and calm appearance of the rest of the face translated position.
The voice channel:
Bark: is the way they express their dogs wide range of emotions. People often think that barking dogs are aggressive but, as we shall see, barking is not synonymous with aggression. When a dog is barking for some reason, barking is a way to get attention, to warn, to indicate whether there are any unusual close as to express the will to play, eat, drink ...
The growl: A dog growls when it feels threatened or wants to threaten. The grunt is a grunt and sustained sound, depending on whether the dog bares his teeth or not, the threat is more or less forceful.
The whine: can mean either sorrow and joy:
- Pain: long, plaintive sound.
- Joy: Short and continuous sound, accompanied by a lot of movement.

Communication of chimpanzees...
Continue to talk a little about how animal communication. I find it very interesting as without having a specific lenguje each animal species communicate in different ways; for example primates, especially chimpanzees make sounds, makes smile, gestures, have the ability to pronounce short phrases. They make hand signals and use different symbols of communication.
Several investigations show us that chimps have the ability to have a language can acquire a vocabulary after several years of preparation. So we wonder if it is possible that an animal species may have the same capacity to communication than humans?
What do you think? You might think that these animals develop a lenguje or perhaps several languages at once?
